La tassidermia delle creature speciali

Standard

This artist has a deep respect and appreciation for animals and the natural world. She is fascinated with the circle of life and intrigued with how different cultures honor their dead and deal with death. Immortalizing loved ones (be they animals or humans) by preserving their remains or creating sentimental remembrances out of their body parts does not sit well with the majority of western society and is unfathomable to the average thinker. Yet such practices have been the norm in many cultures throughout history and still are. Undoubtedly the average American thinks such abhorrent practices are only carried out by “savages” in primitive cultures, yet they even exist in this day and age in the “civilized” world, a well known example being the preserved remains of saints on display in Catholic Churches around the world. Point being, reverence is relative. This artist deals with death, in what is considered by most, an unconventional manner. She does not view a dead animal as disgusting or offensive. She feels that all creatures exhibit beauty in death, as well as in life, and pays homage to them by reincarnating them in her works of art.

I’m sorry, I have failed you all. We sucessfully funneled zombies to union square, but their numbers were too great. From there they went on to spread chaos all over San Francisco. Our friends at LaugingSquid.com have compiled many photos. I lost track of the horde as they entered the subway system. Who knows where they may resurface next!

Sorted Books ProjectSorted Books project:

The Sorted Books project began in 1993 years ago and is ongoing. The project has taken place in many different places over the years, ranging form private homes to specialized public book collections. The process is the same in every case: culling through a collection of books, pulling particular titles, and eventually grouping the books into clusters so that the titles can be read in sequence, from top to bottom. The final results are shown either as photographs of the book clusters or as the actual stacks themselves, shown on the shelves of the library they were drawn from. Taken as a whole, the clusters from each sorting aim to examine that particular library’s focus, idiosyncrasies, and inconsistencies — a cross-section of that library’s holdings. At present, the Sorted Books project comprises more than 130 book clusters.

Codice rosso felinoThe Only Time You Will See A Picture Of One Of My Patients è il racconto – corredato di immagini – del salvataggio di un gatto quasi asfissiato dal fumo in una casa in fiamme. The Universe has a strange sense of humour – I can say this because no sooner than I ask for something a little different from the tales of doom and gloom I have been ‘entertaining’ you with than one drops in my lap. This post will also make my mum really happy and proud of me…

In fact it’s so perfect I took some pictures so that you would know that I wasn’t lying.

The call was given as ‘House fire – persons reported inside’, an interesting job. So at 1am in the morning we fly through the streets to find firefighters having just dowsed the fire that has wrecked a house. I spoke to their top man and he told me that they had checked the entire house and that there wasn’t any people inside.

It’s then that I looked down to see a firefighter on his knees giving oxygen to what I thought was a baby. With a longer look I was extremely happy to see that it wasn’t a baby. It was a cat.

Zibahkhana – Hell’s Ground is the first modern horror film to be shot in Pakistan. It breaks all of the rules of local productions and was made entirely independently with no film industry or government assistance.

In the spirit of the old EC comics, the film tells the story of five teens who get lost on their way to a rock concert, are menaced by flesh eating mutations and then fall into the clutches of a family of back woods killers. The film includes copious amounts of gore alongside a splattering of social commentary and several slices of dark humour. It’s best seen as a tribute to the cinema of Lucio Fulci and George Romero, but viewed from a distinctly Pakistani perspective.

The film is directed and co-written by former film critic Omar Ali Khan. Its cast combines some of the country’s most exciting new talent alongside Pakistani film veterans such as Rehan and Najma Malik. The gruesome make up effects were done by Nawab Sagar, another industry veteran who has worked on numerous mainstream productions. The film was shot by London trained cinematographer Najaf Bilgrami and was edited by the UK’s Andy Starke.

Resuscita quindi è

Dal blog Resuscito quindi sono:

Stamattina sul marciapiede c’era la Morte.
Stava riparando la sua falce fienaia.
L’ho vista dall’autobus.

Standard

Blogging’ is the ability to self-publish. As such it’s a technical term not an editorial one. What I mean by that is that it’s about how not what. Lumping all blogging together isn’t helpful.
